SIME participates in The Ocean Conference of the United Nations in New York

News: May 31, 2017

The Swedish Institute for the Marine Environment will make a number of contributions to the high-level United Nations ocean conference. The conference aims to support the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goal 14: Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development.

The conference will be convened at the United Nations Headquarters in New York from 5 to 9 June 2017 and will be co-hosted by the governments of Fiji and Sweden.
SIME´s contribution consists of two new reports: Marine plastic litter on Small Island Developing States (SIDS): Impacts and measure and Mitigating marine eutrophication in the presence of strong societal driving forces. Both reports focus on sustainable solutions to problems in the marine environment and what kind of adjustment measures these require in society.
SIME will also participate in an exhibition with a film about eutrophication and arrange a seminar on marine litter.
